Passion Project
The blue garden
The blue garden is an ongoing art project and a personal story shared by Camilla Monsen - bringing wild flowers under the surface to capture their beauty in a new kind of motion.
Fear can sometimes open new doors
This project is an ongoing kind of therapy from struggling with fear. As a surfer by heart, Camilla found her way to the west coast of Norway, to live and establish as close to the waves as possible. After some years she started developing a fear of the ocean and the waves until she no longer could set her foot in the surf. Building a life around a passion and fascination you no longer can enjoy, makes no sense. And the work to get back in the water begun.
Thanks to close friends, a great local community of surfers and lots of patience, Camilla is working her way back to the line up, little by little. To find the joy, the inspiration and peace in surfing again.
“One day we went to a calm bay to play around, snorkling with the kids. After this I started free diving calm waters and shallows. The beauty of the world under the surface made me see things in a new way, and making me want to come back again and again. I always brought my waterhouse and sometimes picked flower by the road to play around with in the water surface. Once I dragged a flower under the surface by coincidence and took a shot - and that opened my eyes to a new world! ”
Now the project is growing and we hope to share more of the work with you after another summer of producing and creating. Slow process - tiny steps! Thanks for reading - to be continued.
